Hello, I'm Ana
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Madrid, Spain.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary contract gradually unfolded into a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Spain wasn't in the long-range plan. As with many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something much more significant.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, routines, expectations. Daily tasks seemed more intricate than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of learning by doing. Gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began crafting something that felt steady.
Why I Built IdleHarborPath
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or superficial tourism content. What was lacking was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to close that gap — practical guidance grounded in real life in Spain.
What This Site Aims To Do (And What It Doesn't)
This site is:
- Real-world insights from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and everyday experiences
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn't:
- Not an official tourism authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- Not a generic travel diary
Looking Forward
Our time in Spain continues, and so does the learning process. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
